  • Background: Hypertension is high blood pressure defined as repeatedly elevated blood pressure exceeding 140 over 90 mmHg. About 13,25 % (population 547,823) in East Java, most sufferers of hypertension are experienced by women. Non-pharmacological treatment in hypertensive patients is still rarely used including classical music therapy and lavender aromatherapy. The aim of this research was to difference the effectiveness of classical music therapy with lavender aromatherapy on blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Methods: Using quasy experimental design with pre test and post test control group design. The experimental design was done randomly to select respondents which followed prolanis. The total sampel is 44 respondent, who were divided into two groups. 22 as classical music therapy group and 22 as lavender aromatherapy group used simple random sampling. Data were later analyzed using Mann Whitney test. Result: The result of this research showed that there was no significant difference between the classical musik terapi and lavender aromatherapy, with P systole = 0,492 and P diastole = 0,978 > α (0,05). The reducing mean in systolic and diastolic blood pressure was 138,63 mmHg and 92,27 mmHg in the classical music therapy group and 136,82 mmHg and 91,82 mmHg in the lavender aromatherapy group. Conclusion: There is no significant difference between systole and diastolic presssures after receiving classical music therapy and lavender aromatherapy .
