  • Background: NS or nephrotic syndrome is a complex set of symptoms consisting of proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, edema, and hyperlipidemia. Statins is a first-line treatment used to reduce cholesterol in patients with nephrotic syndrome. The cholesterol-lowering activity of the statin group was associated with inhibiting competitive HMG-CoA reductase enzyme. In addition to cholesterol-lowering activity, statins also have pleiotropic effects that can improve endothelial function. Objective: To determine the pattern of statin drug use in patients with nephrotic syndrome at the Regional General Hospital Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang from the period of January 1 to December 31, 2018. Methods: The study was conducted on nephrotic syndrome patients with a retrospective descriptive observational method at the Regional General Hospital Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang from the period of January 1 to December 31, 2018. Results and Conclusions: The use pattern of statin given by monotherapy in all patients with simvastatin in 29 patients (88%) and atorvastatin in 4 patients (12%). The dose of simvastatin (1x20 mg) po was used the most in 28 patients (85%).
