- Adolescents is transitional period of children into adulthood and there and there were rapid growth in either physics or psychology. One could be said having good adaption ability if they could show mature responses. Thus, adolescent that viewed as one who has good adaptation ability is an adolescent who has learned how to react toward him/her environment. Attachment is behavior referred to the bond between two or more person, that is relationship between children with his/her attached object and has emotional in nature. Attachment carry the advantage for the adolescent to gain secure feeling, protection and comfortable feeling from its attached object thus having the opportunity to develop one’s personality becoming better and able to adapt with the environment. The objective of this paper is to discover whether there is any relationship between attachments toward parents with the adaptability of an adolescent. This research is non-eksperimental, because the author didn’t give any treatment toward the subject. Population in this research is freshmen of Psychology Faculty Muhammadiyah University Malang class 2008. Sample of this study is 50 people freshmen of Psychology Faculty Muhammadiyah University Malang class 2008. Sample collection technique used in this experiment is purposive sampling. Data collection method used in this study is by scale, that is attachment scale, that is attachment scale and adaptability scale. However, data analysis technique used is moment product correlation. Results obtained from the analysis showed signicantly positive relation (r=0,511 ; sig=0,000 ; p < 0,01) between the attachment and the adaptability. This means the higher level of attachment toward their parents made better adaptability own by yhe adolescent. Attachment has contribute effectively toward adaptability with 26,1% while the rest 73,9% is affected by other factors.
