  • Changes in diet of people who consume high fat, salt, and sugar excessively result in various diseases, such us diabetes mellitus. Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2012 there are 102,399 cases of diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this study is to find out how to reduce the risk of complications and recurrence in patients with diabetes mellitus by applying DM dietary compliance. The method of this research is qualitative research, data of this research is taken by interviewing 3 participants they are wife, husband, and child, which is family the wife is suffered from diabetes mellitus. Data is taken in the Polowijen, Malang City. This study uses CSR approach (Case Study Research) by using domain analysis. From the research that has been done, there are four themes, that is 1) the number of balanced meals. 2) regular meal schedules 3) types of meals vary. 4) the client has reduced sugar consumption and replaced it by consuming water. From the results of this study it can be concluded that diet patterns is very important for people with diabetes mellitus to reduce the increase of high blood sugar levels.
