  • The importance of providing social support for someone who has a problem, especially for children with special needs such as down syndrome. One of them is by providing social support because it is an element that can help someone reduce the stress experienced. Social support refers to experiences that feel valued, respected, cared for, and loved by others who are present in someone's life. This research needs to be done so that parents do not always blame themselves or regret the fate that comes to them, but can learn to take lessons by examining what can be explored to improve the quality of Down syndrome children so that their future does not deteriorate. The target of this study is special needs children with down syndrome specifications and parents of children with special needs. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques carried out were observation, interviews and documentation. The research subjects were down syndrome children and their parents. Research conducted can be concluded that the role of parents in providing support contributes to children's abilities. So that down syndrome children can grow better.
