  • Background: Speed is a person's ability to be used to carry out continuous movements in the same form and in a short time. Running speed is the ability of a person to travel a distance in the shortest possible time. Running speed in football serves to support the performance of soccer players while dribbling to the opponent's area and used to chase the ball. The slow running speed of a football player can affect performance when competing. Handling can be done with ankle weight exercise. Ankle weight exercise is an exercise to increase the strength of the performance of the muscles in the limbs, which is carried out by placing a weight on the lower limb especially on the ankle. Research Methods: This study used design pre-experimental with one group pretest and posttest design with using sprint test 100 meter. The population in this study were football players at the Mitra FC Sumenep. A sample of 31 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. Results: Shows that the results of the statistical analysis using thetest Wilcoxon obtained 0,00 (p> 0.05), it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, so there is an influence of ankle weight exercise on increasing running speed on football players at Mitra FC Sumenep. Conclusion: Ankle weight exercise can increase the running speed of football players at Mitra FC Sumenep
