PENGARUH EKSTRAK JAHE MERAH (ZINGIBER OFFICINALE ROSCOE VAR. RUBRUM) TERHADAP JUMLAH HYDROPIC SWELLING PADA SEL HEPAR TIKUS PUTIH STRAIN WISTAR YANG DIINDUKSI DENGAN PIRAZINAMID, ETAMBUTOL, DAN LEVOFLOKSASIN

- Background: The consumption of second-line tuberculosis drugs increases along with the increase in MDR-TB levels in Indonesia. Long-term drug use will cause oxidative stress, so it can cause liver damage which can be seen in the increase in the amount of hydropic swelling in rat liver cells. Red ginger has high antioxidant content which can repair liver damage caused by oxidative stress. Purpose: Knowing the effect of the red ginger extract (Zingiber officinale Roscoe Var. Rubrum) on the amount of Hydropic swelling on the liver cells of wistar strain white rats which was induced with pyrazinamide, ethambutol, and levofloxacin. Method: True experimental with post test only control group design. Used 25 rats in 4 groups, positive controls (induced anti-tuberculosis drugs, without red ginger extracts), and three treatment groups (induced anti-tuberculosis drugs, given extracts in doses of 20mg, 40mg, 80mg / 200grBB / day). Research result and discussion: The results of this study indicated a trend of decreasing amounts of hydropic swelling every increase in the doses of red ginger even though statistically significant statistical test results had not been obtained with One-way Anova test (p=0,071). Conclusion: There was not an effect on giving red ginger extract to the rats amount of hydropic swelling on liver cells of male white rats (Rattus Novergicus Strain Wistar) which was induced with pyrazinamide, ethambutol, and levofloxacin.
