- In modern times, tattoos are no longer a taboo among teenagers. Tattoos are no longer considered things that smell wild, but are more considered towards art to complement fashion. Basically the tattoo that is on each tattoo actor has meanings and symbols that represent their feelings. This study aims to find out how the meaning of tattoo images and what factors influence teenagers in Malang City on tattoos. This study uses a type of qualitative research with descriptive methods. The researcher collected data through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with five customers in Fake Ink Studio to be used as research subjects. Research subjects were determined using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques are carried out by collecting data, reducing data, and presenting data. The results of this study indicate the existence of internal factors so that they are reckless to tattoo their bodies for certain reasons, such as the factors of art, self-expression, historical life, to just complementary fashion. As for, external factors for each tattoo actor only follow what their surrounding friends do, even imitation of public figures because they are considered a lifestyle. The results of this study of the meaning of tattoo images among teenagers showed that tattoos were an expression of feelings, self-expression, and self-identity.
