- Wind energy is a renewable energy that is flexible wind energy can be utilized as a substitute for fossil energy as electricity generation. One form of wind energy utilization as a power plant by making wind turbines, the advantages of wind turbines is being able to convert wind energy into electrical energy with wind speed minimum (2 m / s). In designing this type of lenz vertical axis wind turbine has the purpose of getting the design and dimensions of the 200 watt vertical axis wind turbine. And the method used in the design of vertical axis wind turbines using the phal beitz research method. In phal beitz method consists of 4 phase tie, design and explanation of tasks, design of product concepts, design of product shapes, design of product details. This Lenz type wind turbine is a vertical axis wind turbine which in general has 3 blades and in this time the electrical power will be produced by a 200 watt Lenz type wind turbine for navigation ship lighting. The results of the dimensions of the vertical axis wind turbine design are the sweeping area of the rotor 8.41 m2 using curved blades, the performance coefficient of 0.58, the speed tip 1.72 and the power produced by the 222 Watt generator with wind speeds of 6 m / s.
