- ABSTRACT STUDY OF CEFOTAXIME IN CIRRHOSIS PATIENTS WITH SBP (Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis) (Research at Dr.Saiful Anwar General Hospital of Malang) Muhamad Andriyanto Firdaus1*, Didik Hasmono2*, Lilik Yusetyani1* 1 Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Malang 2 Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University Background: Cirrhosis is a consequence of progressive liver injury which is an irreversible distortion of liver architecture. Patients with cirrhosis are at high risk of experiencing many complications, one of them is SBP (Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis). Cefotaxime is choice of the treatment for SBP patients because it covers 95% of the most common flora are Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia and Streptococcus pneumonae. Objective: To know the pattern of cefotaxime use in patients cirrhosis with SBP in RSUD Dr.Saiful Anwar Malang Method: Descriptive observational study in cirrhosis patients with SBP in the period January 2016 - December 2018. Results & Conclusions: The pattern of single cefotaxime use was 20 patients (91%) and a combination of two in 2 patients (9%). The single largest use was cefotaxime (3x2g) IV in 14 patients (70%); The pattern of two combinations used is cefotaxime (3x2 g) IV + ciprofloxacin (2x400 mg) IV in 1 patient (50%) and cefotaxime (3x2g) IV + Levofloxacin (1x500 mg) IV in 1 patient (50%). The most common use switch pattern is cefotaxime (3x1g) IV cefotaxime (3x2g) IV in 2 patients (22%) and ceftriaxone (1x1g) IV sefotakism (3x2g) IV in 2 patients (22%).
