- This research study about the role of social workers in an effort to improve the social functioning of schizophrenia patients based on occupational therapy in the Mental Rehabilitation Unit of the mental hospital Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang. The purpose of this study was to describe the role of social workers and identify efforts to improve the social functioning of schizophrenia patients based on occupational therapy in the mental rehabilitation unit of the mental hospital Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang. This resaeach used qualitative research methods with descriptive types. The research subjects were all social workers who were in the mental rehabilitation unit of the mental hospital Dr. Radjiman Wediodingrat Lawang. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity analysis of the researcher used the source triangulation technique. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicate that the role of social workers is as follows: (1) counselor, (2) motivator; (3) brokers; (4) consultants; (5) educators.
