Daftar Isi:
- Instant Family is a film of the family genre by Sean Anders that was produced because it was inspired by the personal experience of the director, Sean Anders in adopting children. This film tells the story of how to suddenly become parents after adopting children. This is a very difficult thing to do especially for the husband because he’s a man who initially didn’t believe to be a father and didn’t think that there would be children who called him father. For this reason, researchers are interested in analyzing how the husband can act as a father. So this research takes the title "Representation of the Role of a Father in Instant Family Film (John Fiske Semiotic Analysis in Instant Family Film by Sean Anders). This research using a qualitative research method with John Fiske's semiotics based on television codes which are divided into 3 levels: reality level, representation level and ideology level. Data collection techniques in this study used documentation in the form of Instant Family Film soft files. The results of this study indicate that a father is represented as a father who wants to adopt a child because he wants to be used as proof to the family that being a father can be done without having biological children. So that the evidence raises compulsion in adoption. But in the end he can grow with his children or with the term "lets growing up together" because in fact he is still learning to be a good father to his child. Also in this study there is the ideology of Social Fathers, where a man does not have to pay attention to the biological construct first to become a father and also, a foster father must be able to become a "good economic provider".
