  • This research was conducted to find out how the self-concept formation of the members of the cosuki community in Malang provides an understanding of how the phenomenon of cosplay in Indonesia is developing rapidly. Cosuki Malang as a place in the real world for members to meet and socialize with each other, members gathering is usually held twice a month. Gathering is usually used to plan an exhibition that is open to the general public whose one goal is to introduce cosplay culture to the public. In this study using descriptive qualitative research methods, where in obtaining the data the researcher will try to interpret the sentences spoken by members of Cosuki Malang to obtain the message to be conveyed, the data collection techniques used by researchers are data triangulation. Meanwhile the data analysis technique uses data reduction. The results of this study explain that communication greatly affects the development of one's self-concept, this is because from the time of age our babies are familiar with the name of communication, and the way we communicate is increasingly developing as we age and the development of the times. In this research, the researcher concludes that the self-concept that is owned by an individual comes from how someone interacts with others who have the same goals and how someone feels what is happening to themselves. The concept of self in individuals is influenced based on cultural values and the social environment that the individual comes from. So the reason someone becomes a cosplayer is not wrong
