  • Batu City BPBD conducts dissemination of disaster information and mitigates it to Batu City community to increase disaster knowledge and preparedness. One of them is by conducting counseling and outreach to early childhood, schools, students to the general public of Batu city, preferably those with potential disasters. Counseling and socialization is carried out because it is a form of prevention before the disaster occurs. Disasters can occur at any time without being able to be predicted in advance, so that the community must prepare themselves by participating in socialization activities on disasters and their mitigation. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of disaster information dissemination and mitigation carried out by the Batu City BPBD Prevention and Preparedness Section to the community through counseling and socialization carried out. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive types and the basis of pure research. The head of the section and permanent employees of the BPBD Prevention and Preparedness Section of Batu City, which numbered 5 people, were the subjects of the study using data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses interactive models from Miles and Huberman (data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions) by testing the validity of the data by method triangulation. The results of the study were based on the elements of communication and the stages of disaster management, namely communicators using bureaucratic patterns, namely officials or BPBD employees who conduct information dissemination. The message used is a preventive pattern, where the content is in the form of disaster prevention prevention materials. The media pattern used is a media mix, where there are modern media such as films, pamphlets, radio broadcasts, television broadcasts, and traditional media used such as songs, games and demonstrations. The target in information dissemination uses a segmentation pattern that is based on school age and community social groups that are targeted. While the effects caused are cognitive and conative effects.
