  • Relationship between Knowledge, Parenting, and Smoking Behavior of Parents towards The Incidence of Pneumonia of Child (0-59 months) in Kemantren Village, Sidoarjo Regency. Preceptor: (1) Febri Endra Budi Setyawan* (2) Anung Putri Illahika** Background: Pneumonia is one of the biggest causes deaths of children in the world, but there is little concern for pneumonia, so pneumonia often called by The Forgotten Killer of Children. Deaths in children under 5 years caused by pneumonia were 920.136 children in 2015, with a percentage of deaths of 16% of the total deaths. Purpose: Determine relationship between knowledge, parenting, and smoking behavior of parents with incidence of pneumonia in Kemantren Village, Sidoarjo Regency. Methods: Observational analytic with cross sectional approach. Sample size in this study was 59 respondents in Kemantren Village, Sidoarjo Regency, selected using purposive sampling technique. Analysis test used was the Spearman test. Result: Spearman test results showed that there was significant correlation between knowledge, parenting, and smoking behavior of parents towards Pneumonia at the Kemantren Village, Sidoarjo Regency with p=0,000 for knowledge and parenting, and p=0.002 for smoking behavior (p<0.05). Parents of child who experienced pneumonia in Kemantren Village have majority of good knowledge that was equal to 88.1%, good parenting at 84.7%, and moderate smoking behavior at 71.2%. Conclusions: There was significant relationship between knowledge, parenting, and smoking behavior of parents with the incidence of pneumonia in Kemantren Village, Sidoarjo Regency.
