- Background: Acute psychotic disorder is a psychiatric disorder that occur for 1 day to less than 1 month which cause a difficulty to difference between the sense of reality. Insomnia is a difficulty in starting and maintaining sleep to reach adequate sleep needs, both quality and competition. Acute psychotic disorder causes some changes in neurotransmitters which cause sleep disorder, especially insomnia. Purpose: To examine the relationship between insomnia and Acute Psychotic Disorder in RSJ dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang. Methods: This research included in observational analytic epidemiology draft with cross sectional design study. The sampling technique used in this research is total sampling with a total of 129. Analysis test used Chi-square test. Results: From the description analysis obtained the highest number of patients with an age range of 17-25 years old (41 patients), and the majority of patients were found in males (87 patients). From the Chi-square test results obtained p=0,000 which means p<0,05, which means there is a statistically significat relationship between insomnia and acute psychotic disorders. Conclusions: There was significant relationship between insomnia and acute psychotic disorder. In this case, acute psychotic disorders can increase the incidence of insomnia.
