  • Motor vehicles are the most widely used means of transportation today, along with the advancement of the world automotive industry racing to innovate the vehicle products they create. However, the impact of the number of motor vehicles themselves is the pollution on the environment and the free air coming from the motor vehicle disposal, so that the vehicle product industries innovate to create and develop vehicles with environmentally friendly waste gas. The purpose of this research is to know the exhaust emission by using catalytic converter made of steel, brass and copper and know the comparison. The research method used is experimental method. Starting from the manufacture of catalyst design, catalyst preparation, exhaust modification using catalytic converter, exhaust gas emission measurements through the modified exhaust by means of orsat tube as the basis of obtaining data and comparing exhaust emissions through catalytic converters made of steel, brass and copper. The result of this research shows that the use of catalytic converter made of steel is the best type of catalyst used to reduce the exhaust gas in the vehicle because it gets the average value of CO 12.78%, O2 9.55% and CO2 6.26%.
