Daftar Isi:
- Effect of Red Ginger Extract (Zingiber officinale Rosc.var. Rubrum) to the number of Caspase-3 in hepatocytes of male white rats (Rattus novergicus Strain Wistar) Induced by Anti Tuberculosis (Pyrazinamide, Ethambutol, and Levofloxacin)”. Thesis, Faculty of Medicine, Unversity of Muhammadiyah Malang. Advisor (1) dr. Thontowi Djauhari, NS., M.Kes, Advisor (2) dr. Desy Andari, M.Biomed. Background: The second-line tuberculosis drugs consumption is increasing along with the mount of MDR-TB levels in Indonesia. The consumption of long-term drugs can cause oxidative stress, so it damages the liver, which can be seen on the increasing number of caspase-3 in rat liver cells. Red Ginger has high antioxidant, which can improve liver damage due to oxidative stress. Purpose: To determine the effect of Red Ginger extract on the number of liver cell caspase-3 in male white rats induced by anti-tuberculosis drugs (pyrazinamide, ethambutol, and levofloxacin). Method: True experimental with post-test only control group design was employed by using 15 rats in 5 groups, positive control (anti-tuberculosis drug induced, without extract), negative control (non-TB induced drugs, and extracts) and three treatment groups (induced anti-Tuberculosis drugs, extracted doses of 20mg, 40mg, 80mg/200gr wieght/day). Data was analysed with Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney and linear regression. Results and Discussion: The results of this study indicated that red ginger extract effected of caspase-3 with the significance of the Kruskal Wallis test (p = 0.024). 20mg/200gr weight/day red ginger extract wast the most effective dose in reducing the caspase-3. Red ginger extract effected in the number of caspase-3. These because of the high antioxidants content. Conclusion: There was an effect of red ginger extract to the number of caspase-3 in liver cells of male white rats (Rattus novergicus Strain Wistar) which induced by anti-tuberculosis drugs (pyrazinamide, ethambutol, and levofloxacin). Keywords: red ginger extract, caspase-3, ethambutol, pyrazinamide, levofloxacin
