- Today bullying is increasingly expanding into cyberspace and has resulted in the emergence of new trends in bullying known as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is an act of humiliation, psychological violence or intimidation carried out by individuals, groups and institutions through technological and information devices in cyberspace with the intent to embarrass, spread evil, hatred and intimidate others. The nature of faceless interactions in cyberspace allows anyone to experienced cyberbully. This is indicated by the existence of various forms of cyberbully on social media Instagram experienced by students. This study aims to explore more deeply about the form and meaning of cyberbullying on Instagram experienced by University of Muhammadiyah Malang students. This research was conducted using a qualitative research approach with subjects in this study are University of Muhammadiyah Malang students who had experienced cyberbully on social media Instagram. Data collection uses surveys, observations, semi-structured interviews and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using technical analysis from Miles and Huberman through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusions drawing. Test the validity of data using source triangulation and technique triangulation. This study was analyzed by using Herbert Blumer's symbolic interactionism perspective. The results of the study show that forms of cyberbullying experienced by University of Muhammadiyah Malang students on Instagram include (a) called negative names; (b) spread of victims' photos; (c) body shaming; (d) opinion slammed. While experiencing cyberbullying on the Instagram for victims it is interpreted as follows: (a) cyberbully affected victim’s self-image on Instagram; (b) cyberbully is a loser act in cyberspace; (c) cyberbully as self-motivation; (d) cyberbully is an erroneously joking expression.
