UJI AKTIVITAS EKSTRAK ETANOL RIMPANG NAMPU (Homalomena occulta) SEBAGAI PENGHAMBAT PEMBENTUKAN BATU GINJAL PADA TIKUS WISTAR DENGAN INDUKSI ETILEN GLIKOL DAN VITAMIN D3

- Nephrolithiasis is a disease in which stones are formed in the urinary tract (urinary calculus). Nampu (Homalomena occulta) is a plant that lives in the forest Madiun. By the Madiun community, specifically Caruban, is believed empirically in the treatment of kidney stones by drinking steeping water of Nampu rhizome. This study purposed to understand the effect of administration ethanol extract of nampu rhizome (Homalomena occulta) as destroyer of kidney stone on wistar rats with induction of ethylene glycol and vitamin D3. Tests were carried out to determine the effectiveness of Nampu rhizome as inhibitor of kidney stone formation. Measurements was conducted against characteristics of rats included the shape, color, and ratio of rats kidneys and kidney calcium levels in rats with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry method. Administration of ethylene glycol and vitamin D3 to rats resulted in increased oxidative stress, hyperoxaluria and renal deposition of calcium oxalate crystals. Provioson with treatment ethanol extract of nampu rhizome improves kidney function, reduces elevated oxidative stress, urinary oxalate level and renal deposition of calcium oxalate which shows its protective action in nephrolithiasis. The increased deposition of stone in the kidney and stone forming constituents of nephrolithiatic rats were effectively lowered by treatment of ethanol extract of nampu rhizome dose of 250 mg/Kg BB.
