- Problem solving ability should develop because on the teaching learning process, student may get an experience and skill which they have. The ability is useful to student which want to learn mathematics. The goal's research to know student's mathematics of problem solving with the impulsive cognitive style and to know student's mathematics of problem solving with the reflective cognitive style. The type's research is descriptive and qualitative approach. The subject use student on class VII-F SMP Negri 3 Batu with use instrument cognitive style test of MFFT (Matching Familiar Figure Test), it means that two student on impulsive group, two student on reflective group. The technique of collecting data use test of problem solving and interview. The analyze of problem solving can be seen on steps of Polya's problem solving, about understanding a problem, making plan, doing plan, and evaluating. The result of the research explain that student of mathematics problem solving with the impulsive cognitive style, can retell the intended use of such language problem though errors, used some information to answer questions, solve a problem do not use planning before, evaluate the steps which they use to solve a problem but less sure the answer right with count use the same ways. Student of mathematics problem solving with the reflective cognitive style, it can be recalled that meant the complete use of the language itself, using all information to answer the question, solve the problem using plan before, evaluate the steps which they use to solve a problem and sure the answer right with count use the different ways.
