  • The sugar demand is increasing every year, yet it is not followed by an increase in sugarcane productivity. Mojokerto Regency experienced a decline in sugar cane crop from 77,620 tons to 54,342 tons in 2012-2014. The productivity of sugar cane is influenced by two factors, such as genetic and environmental factors. The low quality of environmental conditions is caused by excessive and continuous use of non-organic fertilizers. The continuous use of non-organic fertilizers causes the soil to change physically and chemically then reduce the production of sugar cane crops. In addition, non-organic fertilizers can cause environmental pollution which may disrupt the ecological activities around, such as macro-fauna soil activities. Macro fauna activities have a large influence on the formation of soil fertility. The various types of soil macro fauna have many benefits for the soil, so the diversity of macro soil fauna must be abundant. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between soil macrofauna diversity with soil fertility in the area of the Padangasri sugarcane plantation in Mojokerto district as a source of biology learning. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. This research method used simple random sampling by selecting 4 stations and 6 plots randomly. Parameters used for measuring variables are macrofauana trapped by pit fall traps and abiotic conditions on the soil and c-organic content on the soil (as parameters of soil fertility). Data analysis technique used in the study was Pearson Correlation. The results showed that there was a strong correlation between macro fauna diversity and soil fertility in the area of the Padang Asri sugarcane plantation in Mojokerto district. Station 1 with a soil macrofauna diversity index value of 1.51 (low) contained 1.03 (low) c-organic content condition. Station 2 with the value of the macrofauna diversity index of soil 1.69 (low) and there is a condition of c-organic content of 1.10 (low). Station 3 with a value of soil macrofauna diversity index of 1.31 (low), and there is a condition of organic c-content of 0.85 (very low). Station 4 with soil macro fauna diversity index is 1.52 (low) and c-organic content with value of 1.07 (low). The results of this study can be used as a source of learning biology.
