- Diversion generation system functions to redirect the water during the ongoing dam construction. The diversion generation system consists of two main structures; namely the diversion tunnel and cofferdam. The diversion system at Tugu Dam consists of diversion tunnel in the form of box conduit and diversion dam. This diversion generation system aims at to redirect the stream of main river during the dam construction process. The diversion tunnel and diversion dam are the two most significant components of the flood control system during the dam construction; therefore, these two items are closely related to one another. This study calculated the optimization cost and diversion system dimension through the most optimum condition between the two of factors. To ease up the completion process, this study used the STAAD-PRO software to calculate the diversion tunnel construction strength, and the GEOSTUDIO/Slope-W to calculate the slope stability of diversion dam. After the calculation, it was found that the maximum dimension for cost and diversion dimension was 2.7 m x 2.7 m by using the calculation of “trial and conduct”. For the analytical calculation, it was found that the optimum point was at the x – 2.66 (with the dimension of 2.66 m x 2.66 m).
