  • Background: Tuberculosis treatment is a long-term therapy. TB cases which untreated and treated but not according to the standardized treatment could cause MDR-TB. The treatment for MDR-TB patients are first line TB drugs such as ethambutol and levofloxacin, and second line such as levofloxacin. Drugs for treating MDR-TB could cause several side effects, one of the targeted organ is kidney. Objective : To determine the effect of TB drugs (pirazinamid, ethambutol, and levofloxacin) on kidney cells histopathology appearance in white male rats. Methods : True experimental with post-test only control group design. Samples were divided into 2 groups. The negative group was given standard food and drink. The positive group was given TB drugs (ethambutol, pyrazinamide, and levofloxacin). Result : Saphiro-Wilk test resulted in significance score >0.05 or p>0.05 which means the data was distributed normally. Unpaired t-test resulted in 0.000 significance score (p<0.05) which means there was a significance difference between the effect of TB drugs on interstitial inflammatory cells infiltration of kidney cells histopathology appearance in positive and negative control groups. Conclusion : TB drugs (ethambutol, pyrazinamide, and levofloxacin) could affect the change of kidney cells histopathology appearance in form of interstitial inflammatory cells infiltration.
