- Background: One of main causes of infection is Escherichia coli bacteria. Excessive use of antibiotics can cause resistance so that herbal treatments are used. Plants that used as an antibacterial drug is Limonia acidissima L. In the previous study, Limonia acidissima L. fruit meat contained several compounds namely flavonoids, terpenoids, polyphenols / tannins, and anthraquinone Objective: The purpose of this study was to obtaindiameter of the inhibitory zone against Escherichia coli bacteria and find out the compounds in the ethyl acetate fraction of Limonia acidissima L. fruit. Method: The researcher method that used was fractionation with some solvents are n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol in Limonia acidissima L. fruit pulp powder. Antibacterial activity test of Limonia acidissima L. pulp was done by using disc diffusion method. Results and Discussion: The results of the antibacterial activity test of ethyl acetate fraction of Limonia acidissima L.fruit pulp by disc diffusion method, at a concentration of 5 mg/disc on average showed a diameter of 20,60 ± 4,50 mm, at a concentration of 7,5 mg/disc is 24,33 ± 3,21 mm, and in concentration of 10 mg/disc is 27,03 ± 3,13 mm and positive control of chloramphenicol 30 μg is 17,43 ± 2,30 mm. The identification of groups compound in ethyl acetate fraction of Limonia acidissima L. fruit pulp was done by TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) method obtained flavonoid, terpenoid, polifenol/tanin, and anthraquinone.
