- Background: Heart failure is caused by a lack of sufficient cardiac output to provide adequate perfusion to the tissues, even if the filling of the heart is normal. Digoxin is an inotropic drug for increasing the strength of heart contraction in heart failure, while combination with furosemide is needed to reduce congestion, edema and dyspnea caused by liquid overload. Objective: The aimed of this study was discovering the usage pattern of digoxin and furosemide combination on heart failure patients hospitalized at Public Hospital Kediri District. Method: This study employed observational retrospective method, and the data were presented descriptively. The inclusive criteria covered patients diagnosed with heart failure at Public Hospital Kediri District, who got therapy of digoxin and furosemide combination. Result and Conclusion: The use of digoxin and furosemide combination in Public Hospital Kediri District generally combined with other duiretic (Spironolacton). The mostly used combination drug was digoxin (1x0.25mg) po + furosemid (3x20mg) iv + spironolacton (1x25mg) po of 15 patients (48%). The most common switching pattern is digoxin (1x0.25mg) po + furosemide (1x20mg) iv + spironolacton (1x25mg) po digoxin (1x0.25mg) po + furosemide (1x40mg) po + spironolacton (1x25mg) po as many as 3 patients (27 %).
