- Community involvement in turtle conservation efforts is fundamental aspect which is one of the determinants of the success of the program carried out due to direct interaction between communities and turtles which living in the same environment (ecological niches) so that it has a potential of conflicts occur. Turtle is one of the groups of animals that are currently threatened because they are nearing extinction. This is because some groups consider turtle is one of the marine animals that have advantages such as; the shells of turtle is made for souvenirs, the meat can also be used because it is considered to be beneficial for health. Knowledge is information obtained from various sources both directly and indirectly. Attitude is the tendency to act from an individual, in the form of a positive or negative response. The turtle conservation conducted in Cemara Beach Pakis, Banyuwangi should be evaluated and considered to the improvement. Moreover, this study can be useful for the community and related parties. This study aims to know the level of erudition, manner and the correlation between erudition and manner of the community towards the turtle conservation as a learning source. Type of research use in this study is descriptive. The research technic use to obtain the data is purposive sampling method. This study conducted in July, 2018. The method use to collect the data is questionnaire and the data analysis use in this study is Correlation Product Moment. The result of this study shows that most of respondents have a good and very good level of erudition. Meanwhile, they also have a good and very good level of manner towards the turtle conservation. The result indicate that there is a positive correlation between erudition and manner of the community towards turtle conservation with the value of Sig is (0,003 < 0,05). This study can be used as a learning sorce for the Senior High School students in X grade on the main material of preservation of Indonesia's biodiversity and its use.
