  • Once of characteristic of middle adult that is were when the children’s did not stay again with the parents. When the child was grow up leave it home, specially for the housewife will be lost their biggest role rather than women career. It’s about a mother characteristic singgle fuction as a housewife will be less, so when thw childrens startingout from the place, the mother will be feel empty nest syndrome. How the other perception about adapted with empty nest situation, it more about the empty nest syndrome including perception about they self. Self concept is some one perception/perspective/result/believed for, they self, positive or negative. Different level of empty nest syndrome for one people and another it can be many things, once of them is self concept. Relation of self concept to middle adult housewife with empty nest syndrome is the purpose of this research. The statistical variabel is self concept and empty nest syndrome. Conclude the data with self concept scale and empty nest syndrome scale. Subjek come from Mondoteko village RW 3 Rembang Middle Java with 53 middle adult housewife. The analysis technique using product moment cerrelation with SPSS 10.00 version. Data analysis will get correlation coefficient result (r) = -0,641 with significant (P) = 0,000, it is mean there is havenegative relation and really significant between self concept and empty nest syndrome tendency, that is mean when some body get a positive self concept they have lower empty nest syndrome tendency. The other way, when they got negative self concept, they have hihges empty nest syndrome. Self concept give 41,8% efective contribution for empty nest syndrome, and 58,2% come from another variable where not in this research. We can see all from determinant coefisient ( r2 ) = 0,4108.
