- This study aims to describe the written mathematical communication skills at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Batu. The subjects of this study were 6 students from class VII B consisting of 2 students with high academic ability, 2 students with medium academic ability, and 2 students with low academic ability. This research includes descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study were tests and interviews. Tests were used to measure and determine the level of written mathematical communication skills of students. Interviews were used to strengthen data that had been obtained from the test results. The test results were analyzed according to the indicators and then categorized into 3 categories, namely high, medium and low. The results of the analysis were described as a sentence according to the written mathematical communication skills. The results show that there are 2 groups of written mathematical communication skills at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Batu, namely middle and low group. There are five students in the middle group of written mathematical communication skills consisting of 2 students with high academic ability, 1 student with middle academic ability and 2 students with low academic ability. Whereas, at the low group of written mathematical communication, there is 1 student with low academic ability.
