- The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of alum concentrations and find the best alum concentrations against paint adhesion strength and washing resistance. This study uses an experimental method. The experimental design is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and the variable analyzed included paint adhesion strength and washing resistance. The results showed that there was a very significant effect (P> 0.01) on the use of alum as a reinforcing material in the natural coloring of dragon fruit skin against the strong adhesive of paint. While the results of washing resistance were detected that there were no significant differences (P <0.05). The strongest results of the highest paint adhesion on natural coloring is P4 which value is 210 grams while the results of washing resistance at P4 (slightly faded). Conclusion the concentration of alum as a fixator in the natural coloring of dragon fruit skin will increase the strength of the adhesive paint and at the same time can improve washing resistance.
