- Resolution of palm oil are proposals submitted by the European Parliament to the European Commission to be used as a policy that supports the vision of the European Union's progressive and sustainable development regarding the issue of deforestation caused by the palm oil industri. In its development, palm oil resolution received many criticisms, especially from the palm oil producers who said that the resolution of palm oil was discriminatory This study discusses the motives for the drafting of palm oil resolutions by the European Parliament regarding the Europe vegetable oil competition by using Friedrich List's neo-mercantilism standpoint. In neo-mercantilism, according to the Friedrich List view, there are four policy specifications for achieving economic growth and prosperity. The specifications of the neo-mercantilism policy contained in the resolution of palm oil are protectionism and the promotion of domestic industri. This study shows the results that the EU resolution of the EU Parliament is an economic interest that is applied through the ideas of neo-mercantilism in the resolution of palm oil to create a healthy competitive environment for the domestic vegetable oil industri, increasing profits in the international trade balance by reducing expenditure on oil palm imports and develop domestic industries that can absorb labor.
