- Background: Elderly is a process of human life that is characterized by a decrease in the ability of the body's functioning systems, psychosocial and mental, the decline in physiology in the elderly caused by degeneration, among them are components of balance in the body such as visual, vestibular, sematosensory and muscle weakness. If one of the components is disturbed, the elderly will experience a balance disorder. Balance is the ability to maintain an upright posture during an activity. Gaze Stabilitation Exercise is an adaptation exercise based on the ability of the vestibular system to modify the size of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) in the face of input given by head movements. Objective: To analyze the effect of gaze stabilitation exercise on the balance of the elderly in Sumari Village. Research Methods: The study design was one group pre-test post-test design. The population in this study were elderly in Sumari Village. The number of samples is 37 respondents who have met the inclusion criteria. This study was conducted 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Measurement using Time Up and Go Test (TUG). Results: Giving satilitation exercise exercise on respondents had an average pre-test of 8.85 seconds while the post-test had an average value of 7.68 seconds. The results of the study using the Wilcoxon test were obtained at 0.00 (p <0.05), so the conclusion was that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, then there was the effect of the gaze stabilitation exercise on the balance of the elderly in Sumari Village.
