  • Listening is considered as an important skill in learning English apart from tree major skills. Listening skill was learnt to make students understand the message delivered by the speakers. The successful listening depended from technique that teacher used. The technique that teacher used affect the students’ perception. Perception of the student may be different each person. Then, the teacher who is responsible to deliver listening material has an important role in the learning process to make good perception of student. This study aims to investigate students’ perception towards technique of teaching. This study was conducted for twelfth grade students at SMA Panjura Malang. The researcher used semi-structured interview and open-ended questionnaire in order to gain more information about students’ perception. Based on the data analysis, it was revealed that there were two perceptions of students; positive and negative. It was influenced by some factors. The techniques that teacher used made them enjoy, more independent, and increase the motivation to study. The students also stated that teacher more often taught listening for National Examination purpose. In negative side students mention it was because the audio and the lesson were bored.
