- This study discusses the representation of pluralism in the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2. The purpose of this study is to discuss the representation of pluralism in the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2. This research method uses qualitative research with types of interpretive research and social semiotics. The data source of this research is the Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 film with battle techniques using registration and monitoring methods. The data analysis technique uses the Roland Barthes semiotic model. The results of the study can represent a representation of pluralism through Fahri's figure, Catrina as a Grandmother, Hulusi, the priest, and some students on University of Edinburgh. From some of these figures, pluralism is described through several attitudes, namely empirical thinking, mutual help in neighboring, neighbors as closest relatives, entertaining teachers, empathy, respect for other people's habits, and speaking the truth. From this study, researchers tried to make Indonesian filmmakers to produce more films by taking up the themes of differences. Because this issue (ethnicity, religion, race, intergroup) which is an issue that is quite sensitive for the people of Indonesia. And it is expected that the challenges of films with this theme can make people appreciate and consider differences more.
