- This study examines the contribution of the waste bank Malang in improving the local economy in the waste bank unit Sudimoro Indah, Mojolangu Village , Lowokwaru District. Malang Waste Bank aims to change the mindset of society towards waste that does not have any value and raise public awareness about the importance of considering waste in the community. The purpose of this study is to determine the contribution of the Malang Waste Bank in improving the local economy. This study uses qualitative descriptive method. The research data was based on the data found in the field. The subjects were members of units of waste bank Sudimoro Indah. The data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis included data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. These results indicates that Malang waste bank does not improve the local economy significantly because customers only get about Rp 20.000,00 until Rp 25.000,00 per month but showed a real influence on the social and educational aspects in the society because it is able to increase social interaction, awareness and behavior change among residents.
