- The loss of function and the role of parents in fostering a family will cause problems for children, one of which is maladaptive coping. This makes broken home children unable to deal with their problems effectively and can affect psychological well-being. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an intervention rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy. The process is to emphasize the acceptance of emotions and the conditions they experience and then make behavioral changes become more effective and positive. This research is a type of quasi-experimental research with nonrandomized pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used was using the Brief Cope and Ryff's Psychological Well-being (PWB). The criteria for research subjects are broken home children who use maladaptive coping and have moderate psychological well-being. Data analysis used is non parametric technique (Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney). The result is that dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is able to reduce maladaptive coping in the experimental group. The decrease in maladaptive coping is then able to increase psychological well-being.
