- Mothers who have autistic children, usually have a feeling of rejection, disappointment, sadness and guilt, then trigger stress in parenting. Mothers who experience parental stress, tend to show negative behaviors and emotions such as anger, anxiety and depression due to their inability to control the pressure of care that occurs. This negative reactions will change to positive if the mother can receive and be grateful for the conditions that occur in the child. Gratitude can make the mother become more patient, sincere, not complaining and accepting all conditions that occur in the child. This condition can make the mother feel calm, optimistic, and happy so that it can reduce the stress of parenting that occurs. The aim of the study was to find out the relationship between gratitude and the stress of parenting mothers who have autistic children. This type of research used a quantitative approach using a correlational research design. The research subjects were 60 biological mothers who had autistic children aged 5-22 years, with the sampling technique using quota sampling. The data collection instrument used a Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6) scale and the Parenting Stress Index (PSI). Test analysis using pearson product moment correlation shows there is a significant negative relationship between the two variables with a significance value of <0.05 and a correlation coefficient of - 0.499.
