- Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is an infection of the respiratory tract with a high incidence and be the common cause of patients visited the health facilities. ARI occurs mostly in the age group of children under five years old. Bad environmental factors are risk factors of ARI. Household activities that produce smoke can increase the risk of ARI. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship of household air pollution to the incidence of ARI in infants and underfive years old in the area of Wajak Primary Health Center Method: This research method is an analytic observation with a case control study approach. Using purposve simpe random sampling method, the sample in this study is 194 children consisting of 97 under-five years old were diagnosed ARI and 97 under-five years old were not diagnosed with ARI in the Wajak Primary Health Center cov area. Data was collected by using questionnaires Results: The result from the Chi-square hypothesis test and Coefficient of Contingency household air pollution was found to have a significant relationship to ARI (p = 0.001) with a weak correlation strength (r = 0.235) Conclusion: Household air pollution is a factor that can support the risk of ARI in infants. It has a significant effect on the risk ARI in infants and under five years old children.
