PENGARUH EKSTRAK DAUN PEPAYA (Carica papaya L.) TERHADAP PERSENTASE DEGENERASI LUMEN TUBULUS KONTORTUS PROKSIMAL GINJAL TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN (Rattus norvegicus strain wistar) YANG DIINDUKSI MSG

- Background: Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is one of free radical and excreted through the kidney which can damage lumen epithelial cells of proximal tubular. Carica papaya leaf contains flavonoid, phenolic & alkaloid, saponin, and vitamin C that can inhibit free radicals activity on lumen epithelial cells of proximal tubular. Objective: To determine the effect of Carica papaya leaf extract on number of proximal tubular lumen degeneration in white rat kidney orally induced by MSG. Methods: True experimental with post-test only control group design. 12 mice were divided into four groups, a group was given MSG 5mg/grbw/day and aquadest, and three others were given MSG and Carica Papaya Leaf extract 30; 60; 120 (mg/200grbw/day). Data were analyzed using SPSS 24 software. Result and Discussion: One way ANOVA test resulted in significant influence (p:0,000). Post hoc test resulted significant difference (p: <0,05) in 60mg/200grbw/day. Linear regression resulted in AR Square: 0,886 (Carica Papaya L. extract had 88,6% of influence). The number of proximal tubular lumen degeneration decreased because flavonoid, phenolic & alkaloid, saponin, and vitamin C in Carica Papaya L. extract could inhibit free radical activity. Conclusion: Carica papaya Leaf extract could decrease number of proximal tubular lumen degeneration in white rat (Rattus norvegicus strain wistar) kidney induced by MSG.
