  • Academic procrastination is the behavior of deliberately delaying work or tasks. Individuals who experience academic procrastination will experience anxiety, poor time management, fear of failure, and lack of confidence. These problems can be handled by the application of expressive writing. Expressive writing is directly related to emotional feelings. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of expressive writing techniques to the reduction of academic procrastination on students who were taking thesis. This study was a quasi-experiment using the one group pretest-posttest and follow-up models. The research subjects were Psychology Students who had done a thesis of 1 year or more as many as 17 people consisting of only one group. Data analysis used a paired sample t test for comparison of two pairs of samples with the same subject. The results showed that there were differences between the values of pretest and posttest (P = 0,000 <0.05). So that it can be concluded that the application of expressive writing techniques can be used to reduce academic procrastination in students who are taking thesis.
