  • The admission of the existence of indigenous peoples is very important. With the recognition, everything that related to indigenous people can be protected the way in the Tongkonan land that owned by the Lembang Tondon indigenous people. Tongkonan land is the wealth of the Toraja indigenous people that is used for living and prosperity. This research intending to find out how the utilization of Tongkonan land at the Lembang Tondon indigenous people and how the incumbency of the Lembang Tondon indigenous people is in utilizing the Tongkonan land and also to find out what kind of recognition of the Tongkonan land that exists in the Lembang Tondon indigenous people. The method that used in this research is sociological juridical, and in this research using primary data. Based on the results of research conducted by the author, the utilization of Tongkonan land at Lembang Tondon in this type that includes Kombong Tongkonan is used to build for dwelling place, Kande Tongkonan for farming and fields, Rante Tongkonan is used for ritual, and Liang Tongkonan which is used for the tombs of the Tongkonan’s family. The existence of common law is related to the land of Tongkonan must be maintained by all those indigenous people, and the state in this case specifically the North Toraja Regency Government. Protection of the rights of indigenous peoples must be upheld in order to maintain the values of local wisdom that has been cling into the indigenous people.
