PENGARUH BLUE COLOR BREATHING THERAPY TERHADAP PENURUNAN TINGKAT STRES PADA MAHASISWA PRODI ILMU KEPERAWATAN FIKES UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG

- Background : The condition of extreme stress or depression on student needed more attention so that didn’t caused negative impact to learning process which affect student achievement. One of the therapy could used to decreased stress level and rarely used in Indonesia was color therapy (Chromotherapy) with blue color breathing therapy. This technique was breathing therapy which imagined blue color when inhalation and exhalation with used a modified cloth shaped apron would made respondent to be calm and relax. Method : This study uses a quasi experimental design with methods and sampling techniques in the form of pre-post test one group design and purposive sampling.. The sample was department of nursing science students of Health Science Faculty University of Muhammadiyah Malang from year 2012/2013, 2013/2014, and 2014/2015 whose suffered stress as many as 32 students. The observed variables were lowering of stress level. Data analysis used wilcoxon with significance a=0.05. Result : The results of study shown that majority from pretest in intervention group had middle stress level for about 11 students (34,4%). After the post test the stress level from intervention group decreased to be normal for about 27 students (84,4%), so the result concluded that there was effect of blue color breathing therapy for lowering stress level on respondent (p=0.00, a=0.05). Conclusion : Blue Color Breathing therapy is a color therapy technique that uses deep breathing relaxation methods by focusing on imagining the air around at a time when breathing and exhaling with certain colors (Harini, 2013). Deep breathing relaxation techniques can reduce stress both physical and emotional stress (Nasuha, 2016). While Color can have a sedative effect, reduce stress, balance and calm emotions (Shinta et al., 2013).
