- ABSTRACT This research was conducted to find these forensic evidence on WhatsApp instant messaging applications that are accessed on Android smartphones without changing the permissions to root to speed up analysis by officers. WhatsApp Instant Messaging application uses the latest encryption, namely crypt12 encryption which is used to encrypt databases that contain information on conversation history, contacts, and media sent by users so that they cannot be accessed by unauthorized users. The results of this study are that researchers can find digital evidence in the form of text messages, images, videos, and stories complete with dates and times that are useful for re-writing the chronology of time. On location digital evidence, the researcher found the latitude and longitude coordinates recorded in the msgstore.db database, then in the deleted message, the message could not be recovered because it was not immediately backed up. In comparison to the size of the multimedia file, the researchers found that the size of the image file experienced a very significant change by decreasing the size at the time it was sent compared to when it was sent.
