- Movie is often called as a product of culture and also a medium to deliver opinions or reality that comes from phenomenons that happened in society. One of the issuses which got quite a lot of attention in the world is about diversity, in the case of religion pluralism. This issue came along with the conflict that involving several countries over the thruth claims by one religion. “PK” is one of the movie that brought up those issues about religion diversity that caused lot of controversy because of its contents that considered offensive to some religions, especially the Indian society it self. Neverthless, the movie also contains the concept of religion pluralism which is a condition of living together by maintaining the existing religious differences. Therefore, this research aims to know what is the signification of “PK” the movie in the case of religion diversity. This research used semiotics analysis method from Roland Barthes’ semiotics theory, which contains of three stages which consist of denotative, conotative and myth. The research approach used is qualitative research by using intrepetative research type. The unit analysis of the research is scene which consists of 12 scenes that focuses on the representation of religion pluralism which include both audio and visual elements. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the meaning of “PK” the movie in the case of religion diversity is that religion pluralism represented by the existence of religious freedom and the portraits of coexistence, the oppenes between religions to interact with each other and the beliefs that all religions are true and came from the same source which is God.
