  • in Dompu Regency is generally traditional fishermen and labor fishermen. The issue of sailing coverage, the costs incurred, the benefits equal or not to the costs incurred, and the catches that compete with modern fishermen are still felt by the traditional fishermen. Cultivation business that has better prospects in the long run is one of the important alternatives in improving the income level and social life of the fishing community. This study has the objectives: 1) Knowing what factors cause fishermen to transform into fish and seaweed cultivators, 2) Knowing whether by transforming fisherman into fish and seaweed cultivators they will get increase in income. This research was conducted in Hu'u Sub District and Pajo Sub District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. This study uses qualitative descriptive research method. Sampling uses the census method and taken 60 respondents using questionnaires in June 2018. Questionnaire data were calculated using cost and income analysis and one-way t test. The results showed that the causes of fishermen carrying out transformation were 1) Natural factors, selling prices, economic and environmental factors causing fishermen to transform, 2) Milkfish production costs Rp 19,053,716 / ha / season, seaweed production costs Rp 13,549,781 / ha / season, while fishermen Rp. 5,637,288 / ha / season, receipt of milkfish Rp. 46,749,457 / ha / season of receipt of seaweed Rp. 41,347,554 / ha / season, while fishermen Rp. 12,981,944 / ha / season and income for fish cultivation Rp. 49,601 .471 / ha / season, seaweed income Rp. 22,293,838, while fishermen Rp. 7,344,656. The productioncost, receipt and income of milkfish and seaweed cultivation is greater than become fishermen.
