  • Background: The process of becoming old is a natural event and the final stage in a life journey. There are some neglected needs in the elderly, one of which is sleep needs. Sleep is one of the physiological needs that has an influence on cognitive function and life balance. Maintenance of sleep quality is one of the keys to maintaining the cognitive function of the elderly. Objective: To find out the relationship between the quality of sleep and cognitive function in the elderly at the Panti Griya Kasih Malang. Method: The design of this study is Cross Sectional using Purposive Sampling design. A total sample of 60 respondents (55 women and 5 men) included in the inclusion criteria. The instrument used was the PSQI and MMSE questionnaire. Data analysis using the Chi-Square Test. Results: The chi-square test results showed that sleep quality with cognitive functions had a significant relationship of 0,000 (P <0.05), then H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the quality of sleep and cognitive function in the elderly at the Nursing Home of Malang. .
