  • Micro-Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) had problems in stabilizing the frequency and voltage. This problem could be overcome by using a system of Hydraulic Turbine and Governor (HTG) and a system of Electronic Load Controller (ELC). HTG served as the control of discharge of water that goes into the penstock could control the rotation of the turbine. ELC was used to maintain the stability of the voltage and frequency stabilizing in the ideal State by way of disposing of more power generated generator to the ballast load. ECL could absorb not only power but also could supply or also referred to as ELC using bidirectional converter. ELC used a bidirectional converter has a very good frequency response when there is a change of the load power. ELC it just takes 1 second to stabilize frequencies at 50 Hz again. ELC used a bidirectional converter using PID and DC chooper as control disposal power to the ballast load. ELC uses DC chooper as the switch to set the power to the ballast load so that ELC could be the inverter and 3 phase MOSFET series using as a main switch that is controlled by PID to control 2 converter properties i.e. rectifier and inverter. However, the system raised a large distortion ELC and exceeding standard of IEEE 519-1992. To resolve the problem that ELC used a bidirectional converter combined with the HTG at synchronous generator using the test and get the results a good frequency response and distortion managed to lose under the provisions of the standard IEEE 519-1992.
