- Short circuit is the most common interference in the Power System (PS) which causes large current to flow, which can damage the equipment if it is not equipped with an appropriate protection system. An PS can use a variety of safety designs, one of them is Coordination Relay Protection (CRP). There are many methods for finding setting values on OCR, including using try and error techniques, graph-theoretical and analytic. But now there is a more effective method for determining the setting value in a protection relay coordination system, which is using an algorithm. Differential evolution (DE) has proven to be the best choice for objective multi-function optimization algorithms. The differential evolution algorithm can be applied to optimize current settings and the time dial on overcurrent relay greatly. The results of the calculation of the relay settings the differential evolution algorithm are better than conventional calculations. Which the difference the of results relay operating time 0.03s is faster than conventional methods.
