- In the protection relay coordination, a fast and precise termination time is needed in order to reduce the incidence of energy that can be caused by an arc flash. In fact there are still many companies that have not considered the arc in the protection relay coordination setting. Arc flash is an event that causes sparks caused by several factors, one example is because there is a short circuit current. Arc Flash itself is very dangerous on electrical equipment especially in humans especially for workers. The simulation results of arc flash before the addition of differential relay are still very high so it is very dangerous for workers. After adding differential relay the incident energy is reduced according to IEEE standards 1584 making it safe for equipment and workers. Standard security workers to prevent arc flash from adhering to NFPA 70E. An effective differential relay is to speed up the termination time when there is a short circuit so that the incident arc energy generated can be minimized significantly.
