  • Jatropha curcas L. is one of variety of plants that is potential to result in vegetable oil. It is of urgency to develop Jatropha curcas L. to improve existing potential. In effort to conserve planned program of Jatropha curcas L. conservation, characterization program for identifying appearing characteristics is of major importance while empowering usefulness of Jatropha curcas L., employing the existing potential, and identifying probability of characteristic similarities. This research constituted observative experiment on eight accessions of Jatropha curcas L., including SP-8, SP-16, SP-33, SP-38, SM-35, HS-49, IP-2A, and IP-3P that had been ±6 years in age and were available in trial garden of Asembagus Situbondo. Each of accessions employed three samples. The observed characters included morphological stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. The result of this study revealed that all the eight accessions of Jatropha curcas L. relatively had the same characteristics one each other, to be specific on forms of leaves, edge of leaves, forms of leaves’ edge, location of flower to grow, structure of leaves on stem, intensity of chlorophyll, antocyanin of flower, forms of fruits, colors of seeds’ epidermis, and seed’s brightness. The result of dendrogram based on the morphological characteristics revealed that there were two similarities, namely Group I included accession HS-49, SP-8, SP-33, and SP-38 by 83.3% in similarity. Group II consisted of accession IP-3P, SM-35, IP-2A, and SP-16 by 83.7% similarity. Accession SP-33 and SP-38 had shown 90%, noted as the greatest similarity.
